Project Playhouse Dedicated Professional Volunteer
What?
The Habitat Activity Center is a 5000 square foot woodshop located adjacent to our Troy offices in which volunteers build sponsored wooden playhouses to be donated to local organizations and qualifying families. Why would Habitat build playhouses? A playhouse provides children with a safe place to play and imagine what a home means to them. The sponsorship of each playhouse helps to fund the HFH Home Repairs program.
We are seeking dedicated professional volunteers who will work with and lead groups of volunteers from other organizations while building playhouses. They could be tasked with any step in the process of building one of these playhouses. These activities could include the following:
- cutting lumber
- assembling the frame using drills, nail guns, hammers, etc.
- assembling walls and roof of the playhouse
- painting trim or walls
- shingling the roof
