EmpowHER - A Day For Women
The EmpowHER event began in 2019 to celebrate International Women's Day and to empower women leaders in business. The event is held annually on the first Friday in March.
Information about our speakers:
Liz Ferro, Founder & CEO of Girls with Sole: As a child, Liz Ferro experienced foster care and abuse, but found solace in fitness: particularly swimming, biking and running. The empowerment gained from sports led her to find the non-profit organization Girls with Sole, which has received extensive national attention for its innovative and successful program curriculum. Girls with Sole uses POWER as an acronym which are called POWER Principles. Liz will make a lasting impact on you as she goes through the POWER Principles of how we react to obstacles that make up our lives.
Karen Carter: Karen's journey is founded in faith, fueled with laughter and full of experiences most see as too much to survive, and yet she has. From tales of tragedy, she provides a roadmap of resilience and hope. Life's GPS takes everyone on a WILD RIDE that seems impossible sometimes to get through. Karen will be sharing H.O.W. the gifts of strength, humility, and purpose helped reroute her life's GPS and how it can help you.
Dr. Cassie Barlow:
Dr. Cassie Barlow is the President of the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education. Through SOCHE's multiple programs she focuses on collaboration among SOCHE's 23 College and University Members. Dr. Barlow was the 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB), OH. In that role, she commanded one of the largest air base wings in the Air Force with more than 5,000 Air Force military, civilian, and contractor employees. Dr. Barlow retired from active duty with the US Air Force as colonel in 2014. She will share her story pf serving as the 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander and the experiences along the way.
