Poverty Simulation- Partners in Hope

Thursday, August 15, 2024 (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

A poverty simulation involves a community scenario wherein all the components of a typical community exists- including schools, employers, social services, banks, pawn shops, and even unlawful actions. Participants assume the roles of under-resourced (poverty) individuals and navigate through the community. The experience spans four 'weeks' (15 minutes each), after which we discuss as a group the insights gained during this journey. There is a lot of engagement focused on understanding the necessary measures to support individuals and families who are under resourced. Poverty's impact ripples through all facets of our communities, even extending to our businesses. This simulation is a good opportunity to learn and discuss these issues in our communities.
