Dunaways has recently teamed up with the Troy Football Parents, Troy Junior Football, and Troy Junior Cheerleading to host a benefit for a local family who recently lost their home in a fire. On Easter morning, tragedy struck Jeff and Darla Godin and their family in the most devastating way. A house fire destroyed the home lovingly left to them by Jeff’s late father. It was a fully paid-off home that gave them stability, comfort, and a place to raise their children. In just minutes, everything was gone. Fortunately no one was home, so everyone was safe (with the exception of several firemen that received minor injuries trying to save their home). But unfortunately, the home was a total loss and did not have insurance. This was not by choice, but because of overwhelming medical bills and financial hardship. 

For years, the family has been doing everything they can to survive. Darla is living with Multiple Sclerosis and requires ongoing treatment and Jeff is battling kidney failure and is currently on the organ donor list. 

They are raising three children: two daughters and a son who is about to graduate Troy High School this year. This fire has not only taken their shelter, it has stolen a sense of safety and stability from a family who has worked so hard to hold everything together. 

Despite years of hardship, Darla and Jeff never complained. They have worked hard, cherished what they had, and stayed strong for their children. Their home was their anchor. A place filled with love, strength, and perseverance. 

Over the years the Godin family has been very active in the community and Trojans Football in particularly. Jeff was a youth coach for many years and was Troy Junior Football’s Treasurer for two decades. Now it is time for our community to give back in their time of need and show what it means to be “TROJAN STRONG” – a phrase coined by the Troy Football Parents who are currently selling fundraising t-shirts of the same name (for ordering information please CLICK HERE for more information). 

In addition to shirt sales, a GoFundMe page has been set up in their name as well. 

But the Trojan efforts do not stop there. On Saturday - May 17th, 2025 Dunaways will open their doors for an all day fundraiser for the Godin Family (11am to Midnight). The Troy Football Parents, Troy Junior Football, and Troy Junior Cheerleading will be on hand that day volunteering for what is sure to be an amazing event. Activities that day will include: 

- A day for the family and community of Fun, Food and LIVE Music. 

- Dunaways will be donating a portion of sales that day to the Godin Family. 

- A 50/50 Drawing and Gift Raffle will be held. 

- LIVE Music will be provided throughout the day, featuring the Classic Rock & Dance Band 

EVOLUTION at 9pm (additional bands TBA). 

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS SPECIAL EVENT, THERE WILL BE A $5 COVER CHARGE THAT DAY, WITH THOSE FUNDS GOING DIRECTLY TO THE GODIN FAMILY.
