Move to Amend Miami County, Ohio Fall 2022 Meetings: Frist Wednesday of each month 6-7:30pm. Attend a meeting & learn about the movement to create a more genuine democracy. Meetings this fall will open with local guest speakers, each of whom plays an integral role in democracy- a preservationist, an activist, an elected official, and a librarian. Come and find out about the important work they do in our community. November 2nd: Kris Lee, Piqua City Commissioner at the Piqua Public Library. Move to Amend Miami County is a local affiliate of Move to Amend, a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit coalition working toward an authentic democracy. The coalition’s first step is a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that makes clear constitutional rights are for natural persons only-not state-chartered entities such as corporations- and money spent to finance political campaigns is not protected speech and shall be regulated. The proposed amendment, House Joint Resolution 48, was reintroduced in the House of Representatives in 2021 and now as 93 cosponsors.
